The NanoBio Research Laboratory (NBRL), School of Nanoscience and Technology, IIT Kharagpur, in collaboration with Think India Society, IIT Kharagpur & ThermoFisher Scientific, successfully conducted a specialized hands-on training program on “Microplate Spectrophotometer with NanoDrop” on 29th August 2025 at SNST.

This technical workshop marked yet another milestone in our continuous effort to strengthen instrument handling skills and research capabilities among scholars at IIT Kharagpur. The program received an overwhelming response, with 50 selected participants across students, research scholars, and postdoctoral scientists, all from IIT Kharagpur. The event started with welcoming Prof. Narayan Chandra Mishra, Chairperson, SNST & Mr Debasish Mohanty, Technical Manager, ThermoFisher Scientific and followed by a welcoming note by Dr. Shivendu Ranjan, Principal Investigator, NanoBio Research Lab, SNST, IIT Kharagpur.
Expert-Led Training Session:

The workshop was conducted by Mr. Mohanty, who possesses considerable expertise in biomaterials, biotechnology, bioengineering, medical science, chemistry, regenerative medicine, and agriculture. His comprehensive demonstration and participatory training enabled participants to acquire a clear understanding of using the microplate spectrophotometer utilizing NanoDrop technology, optimal methodologies for the measurement of nucleic acids and proteins, diagnosing prevalent analytical issues and enhancing the measurement precision for various research applications.

Participants had the opportunity to work directly with the equipment, enabling them to gain practical experience essential for high-quality research output. The training concluded with highly positive feedback from attendees, who appreciated the hands-on exposure, clarity of instruction, and the relevance of the session to their ongoing academic and research activities. The event also strengthened NBRL’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art technical training to the research community at IIT Kharagpur.
With this successful completion, NBRL looks forward to hosting more advanced workshops, instrument training programs, and collaborative scientific events in the near future.
