Recently, nano-bio interface laboratory of IIT Kharagpur has collaborated with Bharat Biotech International Limited (BBIL) and Indo US organization for rare diseases (IndoUSrare) for developing a nanosized formulation to treat a rare neural disease with a targeted drug delivery approach. The grant proposal has been submitted to the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India under the technology development program.
Dr. Krishna Ella, Chairman & Managing Director, BBIL has affirmed the collaboration in the e-mail and following which the commercialization partner letter was issued by Dr. Krishna Mohan, Executive Director, BBIL. Dr. Shivendu Ranjan is the lead coordinator of this project along with Prof. Koel Chaudhury, School of Medical Science and Technology and Prof. Pramila Kalra, Head, Endocrinology Department, Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, Bengaluru.
This project is will be target specific formulation of a rare neural disease and will have first of its kind formulation. Though the idea is at lab-scale prototype development and further investigation to scale-up and clinical studies will be needed, but once after which this will have good possibilities to solve many challenges.
